what poetry means - my last words

I know that I haven't posted this months, my brain has been turned off for a month now. I'm sure that this won't make up for my grade but i just want to share with you what poetry means to me.

high school sucks. There is no way around it, life as a teenager is awful and hard. There are teacher and parents asking you to be better, peer pressure, bullies, new friends showing up, old friends leaving, your heart getting broken for the first time. Everything is stressful and annoying. some people have no way of releasing the feelings they have. I was like that. Quiet and kept to myself. It was taking its toll on me and life got harder because of it.

Then I found my old poetry books and read them. After i read them i got inspired. i started to write poetry about all my feeling and the things i had been through. It was relieving to say the least. After i was done i felt like i could breathe again and the sun shined a little brighter. Ever since then, that is where all my thoughts and feelings went, into my writing.
So to me, poetry isn't just words that rhyme or fancy letters on a page. to me poetry is an outlet, a relief, a way to express myself. With poetry my problems are gone and my world is happier.

who knows what a limerick is? Well,  limerick is a five-line poem or meter with a strict rhyme scheme (aabba), which intends to be witty or humorous. Here is my limerick.

I am really sick of this fight.
I think i will puke, i just might.
All you do is yell and scream.
Everyone can't help but beam.
I am just very sick of this fight.

sadness seems dark black

I believe that this is called the senses poem. It has a specific sequence first you pick an emotion then say what color it seems like for you. Then you have five sentences that start with I see, I hear, I smell, I touch,  and I taste. this is how my poem went.

Sadness seems darks black
like the midnight sky.
I see nothing, for it is dark.
I hear owls hooting in the night.
I smell the fears of the darkened sky.
I touch My tears dripping down my face.
I taste nothing; my mouth is dry.

Lolly pops

Most of the time poems don't rhyme. Alot of the poems I've read are also very serious. On the other hand, sometimes it's fun to make them rhyme and just have fun with it. here is a poem I wrote a while ago.

Sour or sweet
a yummy treat.
sweet or sour
I will devour.
filled with flavor from bottom to top
oh how I'd love a lolly pop

If love is darkness

If love is darkness-
what is hate?
An endless path of misery,
an oblivion of pain?
Your way of life,
the way you play the game?
The destruction of lives,
could evil be the name?
If love is darkness,
hate is the same.

Response to "the Blizzard Voices"

"The Blizzard Voices" by Ted Kooser is a collection of quotes from the  people who lived through the blinding storm in the south, known as the passage of time. It has the women and men recall what they experienced during the storm. It has real emotions since it actually happened to them. You can feel there fear. Doing it that way captures the mood of the situation.
It also helped with prospective. You didn't see just one point of veiw, you saw many different point of veiws. I think it made it more intersting that you got so many people telling you what there experience was.

Since I didn't finish the book till the end of april, I will try something similar to this in May.

The first snow

The first snow fall,
how pretty the world is dressed in white.
I feel happier then I have in a long time.
No matter how cold the air,
no matter the complains of others, snow is my own paradise.

Nature is a very common thing for poets to write about, because nature is everywhere. Though opinions on it may vary. That makes it even better! Someone might not appreciate snow the way I do, and write about how awful winter is.

picture soon to come since my laptop is being annoying and won't let me download stuff
